A man is sentenced to hang for the murder of Mrs McGinty. However, the police don't think he's guilty so get Poirot's help. He goes to Broadhinny and, searching Mrs McGinty's belongings, finds that an article on two women connected with famous murders has been cut out.
Poirot's friend Honoria asks him to help choose a successor at her school. The brother of pupil Princess Shaista was murdered in a coup and Shaista claims she was in danger. She disappears after the games mistress is murdered. Then the French assistant is killed by someone she's blackmailing.
